DESIGN A TINY HOUSE

Home / Architecture / DESIGN A TINY HOUSE

A Tiny house has a living area of up to 50 square meters and is as sustainable as possible. More and more Tiny Houses are coming to the Netherlands. For example, there is already a kind of Funda for Tiny Houses. A kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, dining room and living room on 50 square meters is of course a challenge. Then of course it is also the intention that it is all as sustainable as possible. How is this solved when setting up a Tiny House?

kitchen

To start with, we take the kitchen, because how do you make your kitchen as compact and sustainable as possible? A sink, stove and kitchen counter are indispensable. You can store the pans and plates in practically furnished cupboards. To make good use of the space you can opt for high cabinets, narrow cabinets and / or drawers under the kitchen counter. You also save space through a combi oven and a small refrigerator with a built-in freezer compartment. Also make sure that you do not have too many kitchen utensils and equipment, because then you will not need extra storage space here either. To create a sustainable kitchen, the use of scrap wood is a good choice. However, be careful that not too many different types of colors and types of wood are used in the kitchen, since it can become too messy. For the kitchen counter you can choose to use eco concrete. You can also save a lot of water by taking a self-closing tap and a sustainable combi oven.

Bathroom

A bathroom can of course not be missing in your Tiny House. There are various options when designing a bathroom. For example, do not choose a bath to save space, but you can, for example, choose to place a combination of a bath and shower. To minimize the need for space in the bathroom, it is not necessarily necessary to place a sink in your bathroom. Most kitchens are already equipped with a sink. The sink is of course intended for cooking, but can be fitted as well as a sink. Because you use little power in your Tiny House, you do not need to connect your Tiny House to the power supply. By providing your roof with solar panels, you can use the energy generated to make a solar water heater work. The solar water heater ensures that hot water is produced, so that you can shower warmly. The warm water also comes in handy to heat the radiators in the fall and winter.

Bedroom

The bed is often placed on a first floor, as you can see in the pictures above. By also using the space in height, this is very handy. This way you can use the stairs to go to the bed for more storage space.

Dining room and living room

The dining area is often combined with the workspace, but also with the living room. You can choose to place a bar with, for example, two or four stools and create a separate living room. An option may also be that you place the sofa with a folding table, this to save space. To make your interior more sustainable, you can opt for furniture made from recycled material, but also that the furniture can be endlessly reused. An option can also be, cardboard furniture. This is one hundred percent sustainable and no glue is used.

In short, it is a good initiative, a Tiny House, not only for the environment, but also for the problem of overcrowding. This way more people can live on a smaller surface and you also contribute to a better environment.
