LIVING DAYLIGHTS
This panel reflects the warmth of the sun and the solar radiation; it allows light to far into space. This is a clever use of glass fibers in the glass. These also acts as a sunscreen. This concept has potential and is architecturally very attractive, not yet finished, but there are applications. This panel is made of Plexiglas with production of brooms and brushes are used and integrated into the glass of the panel.
The nature is used here as an example. For many animals and plants are the hairs used as a heat sink. The polar bear uses his white hair as a reflector to direct the solar heat to its black skin so as to use the heat optimally. The fact that you can illuminate the panel with LEDs, makes it attractive to interiors. The panel works well in diffuse light, and it’s nice to work alongside. This research project is done at the TU Delft in the studio BuckLab under the supervision of Marcel Bilow.
