Since the beginning of this month, Isa de Bloois has returned to our office. She had already done an internship at Studio Flex in the past period but wanted to come back to us for her next internship. Together with Izel, she will be joining our team for 10 weeks.
TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR CURRENT EDUCATION?
Izel: Hello, my name is Izel. I am 19 years old and I am from The Hague. At the moment I am in my exam year of interior design training at the Hout- en Meubileringscollege in Rotterdam. In my free time I like to meet up with friends. I also like to play volleyball. I also work as a freelancer in the hospitality industry.
Isa: My name is Isa de Bloois and I am 18 years old. I come from the town of Maasdijk, which is located in the Westland. In my free time I play volleyball and I like to socialize with friends. I am currently in the fourth year of my study at the Wood and Furnishing College in Rotterdam. This is the last grade and means that I will take the exam this year.
WHY STUDIO FLEX?
Izel: So far I have done an internship at furniture stores and designers / stylists a number of times. I liked this, but I also want to learn more about architecture. The site of Studio Flex appealed to me a lot because of the versatile projects. In the introductory meeting I was told about the working method within the company. I had a good feeling about it.
Nice to see you againIsa! Why did you choose to work with us for another internship period? In the past period I have been busy with interior projects. With these projects I was able to go my own way and honest feedback was always given. I also liked the atmosphere while working. The choice to come back was therefore made easy. Now I can also learn more about the projects in which I was involved in the previous periods.
WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS?
Izel: I expect an internship in which I learn many new things because this is my first internship at an architectural firm. I like to be surprised.
Isa: My expectation is to have as much fun and educational internship as the last time. I also hope to be able to go deeper into the work processes because I can now continue to experience the projects that I started in the previous period.
WHAT KIND OF PROJECTS WOULD YOU LIKE TO WORK ON AT STUDIO FLEX?
Izel: I would like to look into the process of a design as much as possible. It seems interesting to me how and why something comes about.
Isa: Of course it is nice to continue with my previous projects, but it is of course also to get something from other projects. I would also like to take a look at small construction projects.
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS AFTER YOUR INTERNSHIP?
Izel: After this internship I hope to get my diploma as an interior consultant. After this I would like to continue my studies. Everything about design appeals to me a lot, such as the interior design media styling course at the Vogue academy. Because I am not sure what I want, I will visit many open days in the coming period.
Isa: After this internship I first concentrate on getting my diploma. I don’t know exactly what I want to do after that. I would like to continue my studies at higher professional education, where I look at study programs such as interior designer, architect or planning.
Isa, would you recommend Studio Flex to future trainees, if so why? Yes, I would recommend Studio Flex to every intern. The working atmosphere is very good and the projects that are assigned to you are projects that you can give your own twist to. There is a lot of variety so you will never be bored.
